Sophie is a very smart third grader. In her spare time she studies calculus and reads fat text books. Her parents want her to spend less time reading and more time making friends and watching TV.
Daisy is extremely clumsy. She falls out of her desk, she trips over her shoes. Her parents make her take ballet.
Owen wants normal things, a book on robots, a pair of boots, a two layer cake for his birthday, but his mom thinks big and he gets a robot that attacks him, anti-gravity boots and an eight layer cake.
Maybe if they work together, they can solve all their parenting problems.

The Wonder of Charlie Anne by Kimberly Newton Fusco
Charlie Anne's life is not going so good. Her mother recently died in childbirth, her father and older brother have gone north to build roads and cousin Mirabel who is looking after them, knows a lot about chores and proper behavior and nothing about picnics, swinging and listening to the wind, the cows and the river. Can Charlie Anne learn to be quiet and polite? Should she even try? Grades 4 - 6
