Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat by Lynne Jonell
Emmy was once the child of poor, but loving parents. Now her family has money and her parents are always away. In her old school, she had lots of friends. In her new school kids don't even see her. Emmy doesn't understand what's going on until the day she is bitten by the classroom rat and consequently has the power to communicate with him. This story starts a little slow and the cover is only so-so, but don't give up. You will be rewarded. Grades 4-6
