Leepike Ridge by N.D. Wilson

It all starts with a piece of refrigerator packing foam doubling as a raft and goes downhill (or rather downstream!) from there. Tom Hammond is in for the ride of his life when he is swept under the ridge near his home and finds himself washed ashore in a pitch-black cavern with a dead guy and an inquisitive dog as his only companions. A sarcophagus, buried treasure, and innumerable crawdads later, Tom’s life has been changed forever. Now if he could just get home… Grades 4-7
