Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy
If you like your fantasies spiced with humor and your main character tall and strong, this is the book for you. When Stephanie Edgley, age 12, inherits her uncle's house, his friend Skulduggery Pleasant comes with it. It's always good to make new friends unless they are skeleton detectives with a love for danger, the ability to throw fire and the conviction that the evil ones are about to take over the world. But, then if your world is as boring as Stephanie's, Skulduggery is a great new friend.
Recommended for readers in grades 5 - 8.
