Free Baseball by Sue Corbett
Felix loves baseball. His dad, a famous Cuban baseball player, sent him and his mom to Florida when Felix was a baby. Now Felix goes to school, plays ball and waits for his dad to find a way to join them.
His life takes a major turn when he wins two tickets to a minor league game. After the game he meets a Dominican who's played in Cuba. Maybe he knows his Dad. On impulse, Felix stows away on the bus so he can talk to the man. Felix is sure he will either suffocate in the luggage compartment or be grounded for the rest of his life when his mom finds him.
